Lash Extension FAQ’s

What are eyelash extensions?

Who doesn’t dream of waking up with flawless lashes… without that terrible ring of “night-before” mascara under both eyes. Well, get ready to shorten your morning routine! With the combination of meticulous craftsmanship and some serious passion, our artists apply a single lash extension or a fan of multiple lash extensions to each one of your natural lashes. The technique will enhance the length, fullness, and/or thickness of your lashes! Exciting, right?!

What type of lashes do you use?

A variety of faux mink eyelashes. Our lashes are the softest and most lightweight lashes on the market. They do not lose their curl or color. Each eyelash extension comes in various curls, lengths, thickness, and colors to give our clients a unique set to complement their eye shape and create their desired look.

What is the difference between Classic and Volume lashes?

There are two different lashing techniques; Classic and Volume. Volume is a technique in which you are safely applying customized fans of lash extensions using 2-8 super fine, lightweight extensions per natural lash. This technique creates a full and fluffy lash appearance. Because Volume lashes are lightweight they can weigh less or equivalent to one Classic lash extension. Classic lash extensions involve a technique in which one extension is applied to one natural lash creating a perfectly applied mascara look. Both Classic and Volume techniques enhance the natural lashes by thickness and length.

How should I prepare for my L&S Co. lash extensions?

Clients should arrive with a fresh face free of makeup and moisture. New clients should arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled appointment to fill out forms and review all terms and conditions before the lash application.

What if they get wet?

No problem, dive in girl! As long as you wait 24 hours after your appointment to splash around, fresh water should have no effect on your lashes. We actually recommend you wash them daily! There are a few things you should avoid, though. Oil based products are on the top of that list. Any type of oil, natural or cosmetic, will break down your lash adhesive and cause serious lash extension loss! We also want you to be careful to not let salt water or chlorinated water set on your lashes too long; this can cause premature lash loss, as well.

How long will they last?

Fills are recommended every two to three weeks. We naturally shed 2-5 lashes per day. There are many factors that affect the growth and strength of all hair including but not limited to genetics, cleansing products, seasonal changes, athletic activities, and cosmetics. With proper application, lash forecasting, home care, products, and regular lash fill appointments you will prolong the life of your extensions.

Will they damage my natural lashes?

There is no reason that lash extensions should damage your natural lashes if they have been done correctly! This is why we feel so strongly about requiring our artists to complete extensive training before taking clients. We, unfortunately, have seen clients come from salons displaying “heavy-lashing” techniques that cause breakage and delayed growth to the natural lashes. In these cases, we will recommend a removal and a lash serum for repairing before adding more lashes! Health is most important!

Why are they falling out?

This is totally normal, and healthy! Our natural lashes shed anywhere between 2-5 lashes a day. Since the extensions are attached to the natural lash, they will fall out together. That being said, lash extensions should be filled/touched up every 2-3 weeks.

Can I have a reaction?

Getting lashes can be an adjustment! This adjustment period usually last about 24 hours. However, adjustment and reaction are very different. Reactions are not common, though they can occur. If you notice redness/itching this may be your body adjusting, however if this continues past the 24-hour period, please contact us. Benadryl and Cortisone creams have been known to help relieve the discomfort while adjusting, but if there is an allergy or if the redness/itching continues past the first 24 hours please contact us to avoid any damage done to your natural lashes.
